Never confuse action with progress.
Our society values action. “Do more! Try harder! Go faster!”
But at the end of the day, what do we really have to show for it?
More stress, relational discord, family drama, depression, anxiety…but we were able to buy that nicer house or get the kids onto that select sports team or _______________. Great. Truly. I’m happy for us.
What if the Church could take the lead on curing our disease of busyness?
What would it look like if followers of Jesus said enough is enough and made radical changes to their schedules?
What makes it even more difficult is that the disease has even spread into the church. Our lives as christians look an awful lot like the lives of those who are not christians. And if we are involved in some sort of ministry, we’re so busy trying to be about the work of God (because every church has to have a __________ ministry/committee/team/etc., don’t you know?) that we hardly even know who He is anymore.
So how can we kill this? What would it look like? Could it be done without christians coming across as simply being lazy? Would that matter?!
These questions aren’t intended to be rhetorical! What are your thoughts?

Many times, when I find myself taking on too much, I remember hearing you (no, I wasn’t eaves dropping!) speak to someone else. The message I got was to not take on a lot of ministries; you get burned out of all. I don’t know if that’s what you meant, but, that’s how I remember it. I try to remember that when I’m asked to join something, now. Since then, anything I’ve joined I’ve loved! Just my thoughts!
